Abstract

Weaving is often found in every region in Indonesia, especially weaving typical of Ngada Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. This island-shaped province has many weaving motifs because each region has a different motif. Based on data from the field, one of the regencies that is currently actively introducing its weaving to the global community is the traditional weaving of Ngada Regency. The pandemic with all its policies has also reduced the turnover of craftsmen of Ngada district. The purpose of this research is to produce apparel designs by transforming Ngada's typical woven fabrics with contemporary styles, as well as an effort to introduce Ngada Regency's unique weaving and SME business competitive strategies in the pandemic era. For this reason, it is necessary to collect data related to contemporary styles and popular design styles as a reference in the transformation of the design. After that, the experimental method of the design prototype of the apparel will be made to produce its evaluation and analysis. Apparel products will later be made with the main material of Ngada Regency woven fabric and will be mixed with supporting materials such as leather and woven palm leaves which are typical materials of Ngada Regency.
