Abstract

Road pavements in Indonesia often experience damage at the age of the pavement relatively low. Efforts to overcome road damage need to be done adjustment of materials used in pavement construction roads, one of which is asphalt. In this study, we will discuss about comparison of the use of 60/70 penetration of Pertamina asphalt and Shell asphalt penetration of 60/70 in the asphalt concrete mix. Variation of asphalt content used in this study were 4%, 4.5%, 5%, 5.5%. From the results of testing the physical properties asphalt Pertamina Penetration 60/70 obtained asphalt penetration value of 66.6 mm, softening point at 51.5℃, flash point at 290℃, ductility at 136.67 cm and optimum asphalt content at a level of 5.5%. The stability value obtained is 4969.60 kg, flow value of 6.15 mm, Marshall Quotient value of 818.55 kg/mm. The results of physical testing of Shell asphalt penetration 60/70 obtained the penetration value, softening point, flash point and ductility of 69.4 mm, 56℃, 318℃ and 128 cm. The optimum bitumen content of Shell asphalt penetration 60/70 is obtained at a content of 5.5% with a stability value of 5214.29 kg, a flow value of 4.34 mm, a value of Marshall Quetient of 1203.21 kg/mm. From the test results can concluded that Shell asphalt penetration of 60/70 is relatively better in terms of large result of penetration value, softening point, stability value, flow, and Marshall Higher quotient than Pertamina asphalt with 60/70 penetration.
