Abstract
News about the prostitution case that involving Vanessa Angel is interesting. In the detik.com online news portal, it gained high public attention. Comments field in the news portal filled a variety of public opinion. The researchers selected five news from this news portal on the day of the incident and one day after the incident. Data is then analyzed using the Sara Mills Discourse analysis method. From the discussion, researchers saw that Vanessa as a woman and celebrity were shown as a negative character in this case. In addition, Vanessa is also positioned as an object in some form of sentences in the fifth of the news. Researchers have seen that patriarchy discourse in Indonesia is still positioning women and public figures as a figure that has high news value, but is also vulnerable to being positioned unbalanced. But a discourse of patriarchy ideology is still seen in some narrative and reading of production and consumption of public discourse on news portals in particular and discourse on audiences in general.
