Abstract

Currently the tempe home industry business is developing. Waste from tempe industry will be a problem for the environment. Tempe industry wastewater treatment can be done by biological treatment because it can reduce organic content in wastewater. One biological treatment that can be used is the Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR). The MBBR process in principle is an activated sludge process that is enhanced by the addition of moving media and aeration to the reactor. This research aims to know the performance of MBBR in reducing COD, BOD5, TSS, NH3, and PO4 content in tempe wastewater. Using Kaldnes K1 for media treatment and variations in the amount of media including without media (0%), 20%, and 40%. The next variation is aerator that are specified as coarse bubble aerator and fine bubble aerator. The results of this research indicate that the most optimum MBBR ability at 40% media variation and fine bubble aerator at a sampling time of 8 hours. The MBBR reactor can reduce COD by 87.89%, BOD5 by 86.91%, TSS by 85.63%, NH3 by 87.98%, dan PO4 by 82.93%. Keywords: Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR), Kaldnes K1, Tempe Wastewater.
