Abstract

Water is a very important thing and is needed by every living thing. The need for clean water always increases every day, but this is not balanced with an increase in the quality and quantity of clean water. Various methods are used to carry out water treatment both physically, chemically, and biologically. The study aims to determine the ability to reduce the content of BOD, COD, Surfactants, phosphates and provide other alternatives in the treatment of laundry wastewater by utilizing electrocoagulation with aluminium electrodes in laundry wastewater. The research was conducted in batch using aluminium plates as electrodes. This research was conducted with a variation of 8 voltage and processing time of 30, 60 and 90 minutes. The optimum conditions obtained are at 8 voltage and 90 minutes processing time. Effectiveness of decreasing BOD to 803 mg/l; COD to 3148,1 mg/l; Surfactant to 97,1 mg/l; also Phosphate becomes 0,27 mg/l. Keywords: Laundry waste, electrocoagulation, aluminium electrodes.
