Abstract
Remo dance is a dance that is closely related to Ludruk's art which was born in Jombok Village, Ngoro District, Jombang Regency. Remo dance is one of the traditional dances of East Java and also as a welcome dance unique to the city of Surabaya, until now remo dance is still often used in activities in the city of Surabaya. One of the government is the Cross Culture Festival and Surabaya City Anniversary. Remo Dance itself is now experiencing a lot of creations, ranging from improvisation of dance clothing and dance movements that have undergone many updates by young choreographers. The design of this visual book provides information related to the history of remo dance from its inception to its current development in the city of Surabaya using photography. To realize the right design and in accordance with the target, it is necessary to design a foundation that uses primary data collection methods in the form of interviews with cultural observers and remo dancers, in addition to observations made in public amusement parks and places where remo dance performs. While secondary data obtained from the literature both from books and journals. The analysis used in this design is a 5W + 1H analysis. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the design of a visual book about remo dance has a concept as a visual book that conveys the history of remo dance from its inception to its development until now as is often used in government and campus events by displaying the real conditions of each place added with a narrative that tells stories using photography with the Story Photography technique In this design, it is hoped that through this visual book on remo dance can provide insights and information to the public about the history and development of remo dance in Surabaya, which is now one of the assets of the city of Surabaya and will continue to be preserved.
