Abstract

This research aims to get and know the best effect of gamma ray radiation dose Cobalt-60 to the early growth of the soybean crop variety Wilis. Radiation of Cobalt-60 gamma rays do in the BATAN (the National Nuclear Energy Agency) and seven doses of radiation, namely 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 dan 700Gy. Soybean seeds that have been irradiated were then planted in the gardens belonging to the farmers of the village Randuagung, Singosari – Malang, began in September 2015 to January 2016.Research compiled based on Random Design Group (RAK) with a single factor that is a dose of radiation, with 8 treatments repeated 7 times as much. The results of the research of gamma radiation is cobalt-60very significant effecton germination, plant height, number of pods, number of seeds and seed weight, but the radiation has no significant effect on the number of leaves and number of pods.In addition, the number of live plants is lower when compared with the number of seeds germinated. The radiation dose obtained for initial growth is dose 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 Gy. Radiation dose of 5 Gy is the best dosewhen compared with other doses. Keywords: Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merill), Radiation Cobalt-60, Growth
