Abstract

A common problem that often occurs in Indonesia today is waste. Development, population growth, technological development, lifestyle and also consumption are a series that are considered to be the causes of these problems. In reality, not all plastic waste can be processed, only plastic waste in good condition that can be recycled. Thus, the waste that will be stockpiled at the Selopuro Ngawi TPA contains many components that are difficult to decompose such as plastic. Utilization of Selopuro Ngawi landfill waste as refuse derived fuel (RDF) will reduce the burden on the Selopuro Ngawi landfill and extend the life of the waste container. Further research needs to be carried out whether Selopuro Ngawi TPA waste has the potential as RDF raw material. The physical characteristic studied were specific gravity. The chemical characteristics studied were moisture content, volatile content, ash content, and calorific value. The testing method for water content refers to SNI 03-1971-1990, volatile content refers to Standard Method 2540 E and ash content refers to ASTM E 830-87. The results of the study showed that Selopuro Ngawi landfill waste consisted of 48.2% organic waste components, 33.5% plastic, 16.6% paper, and 1.7% cloth. The characteristic value of the waste at TPS Selopuro Ngawi obtained a moisture content of 25.68%, a volatile content of 53.87, an ash content of 0.05%. Waste energy potentialTPA Selopuro Ngawi(combustible component) of 3951.22-8634.95 kCal/kg with a water content of 25.68%; volatile content 53.87%; ash content 0.05%.
