Abstract

The batik industry is an industry that produces liquid waste containing high dyes. This waste is produced from the coloring process of batik cloth. Batik waste will cause environmental pollution if it is not processed. This study utilizes bagasse, soybean skin, and garlic skin as adsorbents in reducing the color content of batik waste through a continuous adsorption process using a fixed bed column with a coagulation process as a pre-treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of the adsorbents of bagasse, soybean skin, and garlic skin to reduce the color content of batik waste. Also to determine the saturation point, absorbance capacity, and optimum conditions based on variations in the type and height of the adsorbent used. The variables used in this study were the type of adsorbent, namely bagasse, soybean skin, and garlic skin, and the height of the adsorbent, namely 15 and 25 cm. The results showed that the bagasse adsorbent with a height variation of 25 cm adsorbent was the most optimal in reducing color content with a percentage removal of 93.23% with an adsorption capacity of 2,96588 mg/g with a saturation time of 60 minutes.
