Abstract

This study aims to make hydroxyapatite from kupang shells by precipitation method and to get the best results of hydroxyapatite with variations in furnace temperature and concentration. The scope of activities includes the preparation of equipment and raw materials for tiger prawn shells, the process of making chitosan, testing, data analysis and reporting. The method used is the precipitation method with 5 treatments in different variables. The results of this study are that mussel shells can be used as a basic ingredient for making hydroxyapatite. The greater the temperature used, the greater the resulting hydroxyapatite. The concentration of phosphoric acid does not significantly affect the concentration of the product but affects the lattice parameters of the product. The best results in this study were at 900°C and at a concentration of 1.2 M phosphoric acid, which obtained 100% hydroxiapatite acid, with lattice parameters a (A °) = b (A°) = 9.422, c (A°) = 6.8835, and gamma = 120°.
