Abstract

Coffee production in Indonesia tends to fluctuate, ranging from (-) 27.94 percent to 30.36 percent. In 2010, Indonesia's coffee production was 433.6 thousand tons, while in 2017 Indonesia's coffee production increased to 467.8 thousand tons. The attack of Plant Pest Organisms is a major problem when coffee beans are to be harvested. Prevention is needed so that the population and intensity of pest attacks on the land can be controlled effectively, therefore accurate information through pest monitoring is needed. This study aims to determine the population and intensity of pest attacks on Arabica and Robusta coffee that occurred in Panekan District, Magetan Regency. The study was conducted in two villages, namely Ngiliran and Jabung villages, Panekan subdistrict, Magetan district. The study used a purposive sampling method with direct observation and using brocap traps and hypotan attractants. Then the results obtained were calculated using the population formula and attack intensity. Based on the results of the research conducted, the highest Arabica coffee plant pest population was found in Ngiliran Village with 13.17 Hypothenemus hampei. In the Robusta coffee plant, the highest population occurred in Jabung Village with 42.67 Hypothenemus hampei, 2.67 Zeuzera coffeae, and 120.34 Coccus viridis. The highest intensity of attacks on Arabica coffee plants occurred in Ngiliran Village with an average total attack intensity of 2.24%. The highest attack intensity was on the Robusta coffee plant in Jabung Village with an average total attack intensity of 13.72%. The difference in attack intensity and pest population at the same location with different plant types shows that the Robusta coffee plant yields a plant that is more susceptible to attack by Hypothenemus hampei, Coccus viridis, and Zeuzera coffeae. Keyword : Coccus viridis, Coffee pest, Coffee plant, Hypothenemus hampei, Zeuzera coffeae
