Abstract

TikTok is a social media where currently the majority of users are gen z. Various types of content consumed by adolescents, making them continue to be exposed to information that can influence and change their behavior. This study aims to analyze and examine more deeply how information overload circulating on TikTok can affect the behavior of Surabaya teenagers. The research method used uses a qualitative research approach with a phenomenological type of research. Data collection techniques in this study using an in-depth interview process with a total of 5 informants selected according to the criteria and categories set by previous researchers. The results of the interviews were then collected, grouped, managed according to phenomenological data analysis techniques, so that conclusions were found from the results of the study. Researchers found that information overload on TikTok caused changes in the behavior of high school teenagers equivalent in Surabaya, this can be seen through the process of searching and receiving information on the style of using TikTok social media carried out by informants.
