Abstract

In the learning process of teaching IPS subjects at the elementary education level, students are expected to recognize the country's profile such as flags and capitals, especially Southeast Asian countries (ASEAN). However, due to the lack of precise and less fun learning methods such as PowerPoint, images in books and demands to memorize flags and capitals without being assisted by interesting media, students prefer to do more fun, such as playing games and on a daily basis. The United States was unable to memorize or recognize the flags and capitals of Southeast Asian countries (ASEAN). Elementary school children are certainly familiar with games or games, as Board Game is one of the most common types of games known to all ages. So that board games can be used as a medium for introducing profiles of countries, especially ASEAN countries. There are two stages of the design: data collection, data analysis, synthesis and design object determination. The second is a method of creation that includes pre-production, post-production and post-production stages. With the use of this method, it will generate a design concept with the keyword "Board games increase learning interest", which inspires to create board games for ASEAN country profile recognition in interesting ways. Data analysis applied to this design includes descriptive qualitative analysis techniques. Where processing data (interviews and questionnaires) will be described in detail for design concept determination. The introduction of board games aims to inspire 10-15 years old to become better acquainted with ASEAN country's profile, and is expected to become a revolutionary and fun new learning tool for children. Keywords: ASEAN Countries, Elementary Children, Boardgame
