Abstract

The feminization of the problems of Indonesian migrant domestic workers has resulted in a series of development programs that have strong links with projects to address and prevent capital crises. The poverty trap, consumptive attitudes, debt, and the cycle of migration are among the acute economic problems faced by migrant workers. Economic training for migrant workers in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and other capacity building is held to solve their problems. Through a case study of the financial literacy program by Bhakti Jaya Indonesia and UPN Veteran Jawa Timur for Indonesian migrant workers in Taiwan, this research tries to see why the program is offered as a solution and what the program does to empower migrant workers to be liberated from their economic vulnerability. Keywords: migrant workers, social reproduction, liberal empowerment, depoliticization
