Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, learning system that was initially carried out using an offline system turned into an online system. Online learning is the right solution to maintain body from the spread of Covid-19. Both online and offline learning have advantages and disadvantages. The purpose of this study is to investigate student perceptions and preferences regarding the online and offline lecture system for students. This study uses a survey method to accommodate the opinions and aspirations of UPN "Veteran" East Java students and students from other universities through google form. The results of the study indicate that there are advantages and disadvantages of using online and offline learning systems. The main drawback of the online learning system is the waste of quota, if the quota is limited, then the received signal becomes less smooth, and there are many constraints in the online class, those are lack of attention and understanding of the lessons, and it is easy to feel lazy, while most of the respondents mentioned the advantages of online learning system where students are more confident and more active, this is supported by the learning application features. The weakness of the offline learning system can be seen in students who are still adapting to changes in the learning system, take more notes in class, lack confidence, and are embarrassed to ask questions in class. The main advantage of the offline learning system are it is more communicative, students are more focused, and can understand the lessons better because they have a direct understanding of the lessons.
